The Coolest Inventions Coming This Year
With the rate of human progress and innovation only increasing every year, it shouldn’t come as an enormous shock that a variety of new and mind blowing inventions are already making 2016 a year of incredible innovation. Let’s take a look at some of the coolest new invention ideas that have already hit the market this year.
Drill 2.0
Have you ever grabbed your electric drill screw something into a wall only to strip the screw or overdrive the screw and damage the substrate? Black and Decker has finally remedied the issue with their new Max Lithium cordless drill, which has an automatic transmission. The drill senses when there’s a sudden increase in resistance, and will simply disconnect the bit for you to avoid damaging anything. It’s a simple solution to an age-old problem.
Clear Duct Tape
Duct Tape is an American classic used to fix everything that’s broken or moves when it shouldn’t. Its one unfortunate weakness so far has been its ugly color that makes it a highly visible solution whatever problem you just applied it to. The makers of Gorilla Glue took a look at this and decided to fix that with their new Gorilla Clear Tape. It’s essentially like duct tape, except that it’s completely clear and doesn’t yellow with age. As a result it’s the perfect fix for cracked windows, cell phone screens, and other clear surfaces that duct tape previously just didn’t work with.
Handheld Food Scanners
Seemingly straight out of science fiction, the SCiO food scanner allows people to instantly scan and analyze foods to get an idea of how calorie rich and nutritious they are. It does this using a spectrometer, which analyzes the light that’s reflected off the food after filtering it through a prism. It’s the same method astro-physicists use to determine what distant stars and exoplanets are made of.
Flexible Screens
LG had released a paper-thin LED screen that can be rolled up like a sheet of paper. As far as clearly visible progress, this is the one with the most potential to transform our everyday lives. Flexible screens are likely to become the light-weight mobile computing tool of choice, since it’ll allow us to carry larger screens that weigh less and won’t be damaged if they’re dropped. Keep an eye on this one!
